Louis thanked the Malaysian audience for the vehement support and warm reception. He hopes that the movie will continue the box office rampage. The four of them sent their CNY greetings to the audience in advance. Kevin thanked Louis for the opportunity to star in this monumental blockbuster. Personally, I feel that Raymond and Louis off screen roles have the same master and disciple connections as portrayed in “Back To The Past”. Under Louis’ tutelage, Raymond has indeed been breaking barriers and achieved tremendous results in the movie industry. As for Louis and Jessica, the “CP” (Canto lingo/slang) vibes are pretty strong. However, for now, the relationship seems to be purely platonic. Louis disclosed that he would also release the alternative ending version if box office results meet the mark. A point to note, this film features extensive action sequences choreographed by Sammo Hung. Produced by One Cool Film Production, the plot of “Back To The Past” took placed 20 years after the tv drama. Hong Siu Long (Louis Koo) and his family have moved to the countryside, to steer clear of Ying Ching/Emperor Qin (Raymond Lam)’s radar. However, Ken (Michael Miu), from present era suddenly travels through time and attempts to seize the throne from Raymond, causing chaos and reuniting Raymond and Louis in the process. To spice up the dialogue, Louis deliberately included witty and modern phrase such as “Hit Your Lung” (丁你個肺). . My take is the movie is pretty decent but could have been longer, more screen time for Jessica and the ending does seems a little rushed. Nevertheless, it is still a valiant effort from Boss Koo, as it is truly challenging to bring together all the original ensemble (including production crew), where most are attached with different employers now. Louis has also released a vinyl record and CD, comprising the theme song of “Back To The Past” and his past classics.

"Back To The Past" movie meet and greet at Pavilion KL (寻秦记 - 影迷见面会 ) on 23rd January 2026- Louis Koo, Raymond Lam, Jessica Hsuan and Kevin Chu
“Back To The Past”, the much awaited movie adaptation of TVB’s popular time-travel drama, “A Step Into The Past” finally saw the light of day on 31st of December 2025 ! Owing to the prolong shooting and processing period which took 6 long years to complete, this movie was fast turning into an urban legend for fans but now we know this movie is for real ! Headed by Louis, the whole cast has gone all out in promoting “Back To The Past” in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Malaysia. The movie rakes in a cool RM13.5 million, barely a month after it hits the local cinemas. To personally thank the audience, Louis Koo, Jessica Hsuan, Raymond Lam and Kevin Chu had a rare meet the fans session at Pavillion mall, followed by exclusive appreciation appearance in a few selected theatres on the next day. Tickets were snapped up in literally minutes and the cinemas’ damn lousy ticketing servers also sent many desperate fans fuming (yes, me included). Fans’ anticipation hits fever pitch by the time the fantastic four walked down the red carpet at 6.30 pm. Many fans from abroad and various states in Malaysia had patiently waited for their idols since the mall opened at 10am. There were even seniors with walking sticks, eager to catch a glimpse of their screen icons and relive the walk down memory lane. Afterall, most of these folks grew up watching “A Step Into The Past” 25 years ago. Pure nostalgia ! It was a sight to behold , seeing a sea of hard core fans armed with placards to support Raymond, Jessica and Louis. Both Raymond and Louis wore shades at the event, while Jessica looks trendy in denim get-up. I wasn’t familiar with Kevin and only noticed he was part of action – thriller, “Twilight Of the Warriors” ensemble when I checked out IMDb. Yes, he’s quite a good looking dude.
