Astro Wah Lai Toi Drama Awards 2006

Moses Chan and Myolie Wu were crowned Favourite Leading Actor and Actress respectively at the Astro Wah Lai Toi Drama Awards 2006. Not at all suprising to me coz Astro's Wah Lai Toi is fast turning into "consolation" awards for TVB top tier stars who somehow failed to grab the awards during TVB's own award presentation. Anyway, no complains as long as I get to feast my eyes on TVB's "dong hung fa-dan and siu-sang."

Moses, also walked away with the Favourite Couple award with Bernice Liu. Poor Moses and Bernice ! With laser- mouth Nat acting as the compere this year, they were teased endlessly ! It was a refreshing change to have Nat as the emcee, taking over from Anderson Junior. Nat really cracked-up the audience with his witty banters. Myolie was all emotional during her acceptance speech. I had expected her to win since "War of In Laws" was such a hot favourite. Ron and Ray re-enacted the Anita Mui dance medley which they performed during TVB's last anniversary celebration.

In August 2006, Twins held their very first concert in Malaysia. Needless to say, I was filled with excitement! I’ve been longing to watch them perform live for ages! To hell with what the critics have had to say about their singing and squeaky clean image. All I know is I lurv all their K-songs and they are a joy to watch ! Say what you want, I still find them cute as a button ! Believe it or not, this duo can sing pretty well live. Nah, they may not have Celine Dion’s vocals but hey ! I was there to have fun and they delivered! From fast tempo songs to all time mushy favourites, they rendered one hit song after another. Kenny was the guest singer for the night. Boyz has always been in close collaboration with Twins, so I wasn’t surprised that they picked Kenny. The 2-night concert was pretty successful. However, it was marred by the infamous incident whereby Ah Q was being secretly photographed while changing.

Fast forward to 2 years later – 2008. Ah Q was once again hit by another scandal and this time, it has more or less temporarily killed her singing career. It has certainly been tough for Twins. Once they were so sweet sweet that you could get diabetes from watching them but now, everyone treats Ah Q like poison ivy. A guy who f**ks around is a stud. A lady caught in a compromising position is a slut. A stud and a slut ! See the vast difference ? I really wonder why there are certain quarters out there who are hell bend on making sure Ah Q’s career never see the light of day again. Yeah, her speech may sound a little naïve and she did managed a weak smile during the press conference. What’s the big deal, people ?!! She’s merely reading out of a prepared text from EEG’s PR team. Okay, so maybe she has disappointed some kids and their parents for not being a good role model. So, what ? Do they have to keep harping on this issue and boycott functions that Ah Q appeared in ? Anyone who thinks that all celebrities are saints or as holy as Mother Theresa, GET REAL ! If you think that way, then obviously, you are the one who is “han tin chan, han sor”(very naïve, very dumb), not Ah Q ! They don’t go around wearing chastity belts and they have sexual desire like everyone else. Her personal life aside, Ah Q and Ah Sa makes a formidable pair. Their songs are great ! Everyone should just let Ah Q go on with life and the chance to start afresh.
