If you have been tuning-in to MyFm or watching Astro lately, you would never miss the massive promotions for “Heart Of Greed”. Broadcasted last year, this TVB blockbuster was a runaway success, even re-launching the acting career of Suzanne Kwan Kuk Ying. Tavia Yeung, Moses Chan, Linda Chung and veteran actress, Louis Lee, were at Ipoh Parade on July 6 & 7 to promote this series and most important of all, attract more viewers to sign-up with Astro as well as Astro-On-Demand package. The event took-off at 7 pm and lasted about an hour, with the usual rounds of games thrown-in. I had wanted to see Tavia in-the-flesh for a long time but never gotten the chance until now. She reminds me a lot of a younger Maggie Cheung Ho-yee. Over the years, her acting has improved tremendously. Unfortunately, TVB has yet to cast her as the main leading actress. When it comes to the new batch of TVB starlets, Tavia has the most potential in terms of looks and acting skills. Yet, TVB prefers to promote airhead like Fala Chan !! How baffling !
Alright, back to this event…Tavia was casually dressed in jeans and a white blouse and seems to share a close bond with Louis Lee. Both were seen chatting away all the time. Didn’t expect Moses to don a tie for this occasion ! Linda proved to be the crowd-puller, which was quite surprising. I thought Tavia would have the upper hand in the popularity department. Linda’s supporters kept yelling “Chung Ka Yan” throughout the function. Linda projects the cute, pretty and girl-next-door image. Let’s face it, Linda has the type of face which you can never hate, even if you may not like her. Moses doesn’t lose out either. He received a bouquet of flowers from a burly male fan! This particular fan lost his balance and had to be helped by the security personnels due to excessive spinning while taking part in the game session. His funny antics really cracked-up Louis and Tavia. Moses is no stranger to Ipoh town, having been there before in 2006. The emcee revealed that Moses had two plates of “Ipoh Hor Fun”!
I’m glad Louis Lee was invited to this promotional event. Somehow, I have always had a soft spot for her. I really feel for her. This lady has endured many setbacks in her life. Her first hubby strayed and this put a strain in her relationship with her daughter. Her second marriage ended in divorce after a very brief spell and eventually, he passed away. Let’s not forget her fight with the big C and other ailments that has constantly haunts her. She stays on her own and had to deal with financial difficulties in the past. Life has been tough but she is never one to give up. When she won the TVB award last year and listening to the acceptance speech, I was overjoyed for her! She is one heck of a gutsy lady ! I sure hope to see again during the next Astro WLT award show.
