All About Men Live In Genting 2010( 男人魅雲頂演唱會 2010) - 22nd May 2010

If the weather feels a tad warmer on Saturday (May 22), it has nothing to do with global warming. The heat is on coz four smoking hot dudes are ready to set Arena Of Star on fire !!! Or should I say three, since Kevin is fast falling into my "I-can't-stand-him" list.

It's show time for the "Young Four" (as Bosco put it - the younger version of "Big Four")after a short catwalk segment by one of the sponsers. LOL ! All hell broke loose when these hotties appeared. It was worst when the stars went down the stage to shake hands. The security had a hard time controlling the crowd. Fan club members turned out in full force to support their idols. I was especially taken aback to see a huge group of Moses fans coz they have been pretty low-key during Moses' past few appearances in Malaysia. Their "cuppa MO" LED board is darn cute!

Being the first to perform, Mo was understandably nervous. He belted out all ballads and was the only one who sang English songs. Er...well, he had a tough time hitting the high notes but you gotta cut him some slack. He ain't a professional singer afterall. And you can never hate Moses no matter how badly he sings ! He's just too nice a guy. He croons and his fans obviously swoons ! One thing I gotta comment is Moses is way, way, way too thin (sunken cheeks and all). I wanna see more meat on this guy. Pencil-thin image doesn't suits him (that's for Khalil).

Next up is Ron. Ron's vocal is not the best in town but it ain't too bad. I kinda like his voice and he performed mostly dance medleys (Aaron and Lesley). Ron kept asking the crowd for more applause and I have to add that over the years, Ron's acting has improved while Kevin's has gone down hill.

The adrenalin rush started when Bosco appeared on the stage. My friend was screaming her head off and jumping up and down. Bosco was oozing with confidence, grooving to the rhythm - SEXY moves ! He was so sleek and at ease on the stage ! You gotta hand it to Bosco. He realy knows how to work the crowd with his wise cracks.

Kevin was the final performer for the night, which is my cue for toilet break. Yes, his vocal is okay but his singing is just as boring as his acting. I so hate the song from "Life Art" (寫意人生), eventhough it's composed by Lau Ka Cheung. The musical arrangement sounds so "70-ish". 'nuf said about Kevin.

Overall, I had fun at the concert ! Yes to my "All About Men" concert. Switch the line-up a bit (but, please...maintain Ah Co).

Wong He - Unfold Love and Wisdom - Wisma MCA, Malaysia (April 24, 2010) - Wisma MCA.

As a practising Buddhist, this event certainly brings me double joy. Not only do I get to watch Wong He,I also had the privilege of listening to Wong He's master, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, giving insightful dharma talk on happiness. "Rinpoche" stands for precious guru in English. Rinphoche has a huge following not only in Asia but in the Western communities as well. Among his more well-known followers are Richard Gere and Steven Seagal.

By the time the function started, there wasn't any sitting room left and additional chairs had to be added. Everyone stood up and applauded when Rinpoche and his entourage (including Wong He, two Caucasian guys and a number of young monks) made their entrance. Rinpoche addressed the audience in simple, witty, yet to-the-point English. There was never a dull moment as Rinpoche constantly injects houmour into his talk and also during the dialogue with Ah He. The stuff that Rinpoche preaches are universal - never physical nor mentally harm others, happiness does not come from material pursuits, spread the goodwill around..etc but the difference, I find myself very much engrossed in the talk and was nodding away (eventhough fingers are busy snapping away).

The audience were also giving a chance to throw 3 questions at Rinpoche. Both master and disciple (Rinpoche and He)posed a question to each other, too. Rinpoche wants to know the reason Wong He took up Buddhism and Wong He asked, whether Rinpoche thinks that he would make a better leader if he was the president of the United States and chairman of the Republic of China since he's such a compassionate being. Wanna know the answers? Well, click on the attached video clips then ! Wong He frankly admitted that he still still find happiness when using LV products, getting the best actor award and staying in apartment that he doesn't need to pay for but I believe he's trying to strike a balance between material and spiritual wealth.

Everyone who has been following the corruption scandal involving TVB's ex-GM, Stephen Chan needs no further introduction to probably the most 潮金句 of 2010 - "真的假不了,假的真不了" (what is false cannot be the truth, what is the truth cannot be false). Although I knew that Wong He and Stephen are good friends, I couldn't help but laughed out loud when Wong He uttered Stephen's golden words when he talked about instilling Buddhist values into his line of work, as an actor. All thru' the night, it was pretty obvious that Ah He was like a nervous school boy. He was confident expressing his thoughts in Canto but I suspect he wasn't too comfortable having to converse in English. Nevertheless, his jitteries are uncalled because he managed to carry it off perfectly. My friends (who had been staunch supporters of He for ages) had the word "contentment" plastered all over their faces when the event ended. Once again, Wong He's words of wisdom managed to mesmerize them (as expected !)Ah He is indeed a rare breed of HK celebrity who still upholds dignity, spreading kind and noble deeds in his own little ways, hoping to make a difference in this world. Action speaks louder than word - if you had been following the E-news this year, you would know what a true friend Ah He has been to Stephen, who had been down and out. The media also revealed Ah He's heroic story recently. Ah He was one of the unsung heroes of the HK Police Force before he quit his job to join ATV and subsequently, switched to TVB. See below story (credits to Asian Fanatic Forum for the translation).

I'm no fan of Wong He. But you can count me in as a supporter. I only become a supporter for people that I respect and Wong He definitely makes the grade !

Political Situation: Wong He's heroic real life rescue of his police officer colleagues

Earlier TVB General Manager Stephen Chan was arrested for a corruption case, his good artist friend Wong He has been very supportive of him every since. Wong He helped him buy pomelo leaves, prayed for him and helped maintain his reputation. He is seriously a good friend. To this, as most people know Wong He used to work as a police officer before entering the industry. It turns out that he wasn't just simply a police officer, he was even involved in a case where someone attempted to murder the police, managing to heroicly save two officers in a semi-coma. The police department recently plans to publish a book where they recognize 10 of their heroic colleagues. The book will record the details of the good deeds those 10 officers done, including Wong He's heroic event of saving two officers.

In TVB series , Wong He plays a heroic firefighter who has left deep impressions on audience. Couldn't believe that even in real life, Wong He is the same hero he plays in the series. It was said that in 1989 when he was still working in the police force, one morning a criminal attempted to murder the police on the 13th floor of a building on Nathan Road. Outside the front door on both sides of the elevator entrance were flammable items. When the police came to investigate of a falsely claimed burglary, a sergeant and 4 officers arrived the scene. Three officers leading the operation including the sergeant were smoked by someone leaving them semi-unconscious. This is when Wong He comes in where he was at a nearby location, once he heard about the incident, he quickly rushed to the crime scene. In the end, he was able to rescue the officers. Wong He even remembers at that time, there was a female officer saw the whole thing from a several floors above. It's no wonder Wong He is so generous in helping his friend out during a time where he's involved in a lawsuit.

Jan Lamb Hoi Fung "Yes, I Do" (林海峰是但噏我願意) Stand-Up Comedy Promo - Berjaya Times Square, Malaysia - April 2010

The long wait is finally over ! Pinch yourself ! It's for real ! Jan Lamb is right here in Malaysia for his first ever public appearance, to promote his much anticipated talk show in Genting, Malaysia. Before LMF, FAMA, MC Jin and 24 Herbs came into the rap scene,Softhard (軟硬天師)was and still is, the godfather of rap in Hong Kong. Still recall the rap anthem "廣播道 Fans殺人事件" ? It's a classic ! I've admired the Softhard duo for their witty lyrics and I was so hoping for some sensible local concert organizers to bring them to our shores for the "Long Time No See" reunion concert. Well, that wish never did come true.

As we all know, the multi-talented Jan has ventured into talk show, with record-breaking success. '林海峰是但噏我願意" would be his 3rd talk show. I've watched all 3 and enjoyed them tremendously. It's not just the amusing stories or gag, even the songs segment (where he changed the lyrics of popular songs) are so darn hilarous ! Think "Facebook" song. Most Chinese FB users would have heard or seen the MTV by now.

I was kinda worried when I saw only a small number of people at the venue...half an hour to 8 pm. Luckily, the crowd started to trickle-in and a super supporters even wore Jan's tee shirt to the event. A few members of Manhand (the local rap band) turned-up for the promo, too. My friend was getting restless coz the organizer, Jazzy Group, screwed-up big time as the PIC has totally forgotten to bring the tickets we ordered (despite being given reminders)to the function. Other than tickets and posters, CDs/DVDs and other stuff are strictly not allowed to be signed. Shame on Jazzy Group for the blunder ! How could they make such a blooper when my friend bought a considerably hefty (RM5700) amount of tickets ?!! Anyway, after many phone calls and anxious moments, Jazzy decided to print out the tickets instead of waiting for their co-worker to bring the tixs from their office in Shah Alam !

Even during this short session, Jan was never short of funny quips! At one point, the emcee, Gan Mei Yan, was caught off-guard by his sharp and spot-on remarks and was lost for words momentarily. Can you believe it ? The audience actually applauded ! So wicked but heck ! I lurv it ! The best part is Jan happily obliged when fans requested to take pix with him while signing autographs. Most of the time, he has this cheeky expression on his face when posing with fans. He takes good care of his fans, too. Two of them went to the airport to greet him. He remembered their names and specifically asked the emcee to pass the goodie bags to them (without having to participate in the games). Awww..don't you just love this awesome dude ? Jan noticed that some of the fans went up the stage a few times and he liken the situation to "sushi conveyor belt." Also, Jan would make a more convincing Botox spokesperson that Gillian Chung. He may be 43 this year but he could easily pass off as someone in his mid or late 20s !

I'm all set for the date with Eric and Jan in June. Looks like I may have to bring along some "poh chai" pills when I go for the show - too much wind in the tummy from laughing too hard !
