華麗星星會 Event - Leisure Mall and Sg. Wang Plaza (27 June, 2009)

Mumsy wasn't too pleased that I'm attending another public event when cases of H1N1 pandemic is rising...worried that I may become part of the statistics. In true Chai Kau (柴九) spirit, I told her "人生有几多个十年 ?"and off,I went on my stars stalking mission. With the strong ratings of "Rosy Business (巾幗梟雄)", the spotlight naturally falls on 柴九 aka Wayne Lai. One really cannot deny the cult following status of 柴九 and 四奶奶 ! From kiddos to grand parents, all were eagerly anticipating the arrival of Wayne (see placards pix below). The stars were right on schedule. Wayne (donned a striking orange coloured Ralph Lauren tee)enjoyed the loudest cheers from the crowd, going round shaking hands with the spectators.I can really tell that Wayne is excited and happy with the adulation. I am truly happy for him coz he really deserves the recognition after slogging for donkey years in the e-circle. To promote his "Coffee Confidential(品味咖啡)" program, Moses showed off his "teh tarik (拉茶)" skills and a few lucky audience got to taste the concoction (coffee mixed with other weird stuff). The fun part came during the next game session - Cho Lam recited a short paragraph in Canto and Malay, while selected audience were asked to jot down and repeat it, with the help of the artistes. It was really hillarious !!! Unfortunately, the event ended real fast, after a mere 30 minutes. Boy, am I glad I went for 2nd round at Sg. Wang plaza coz Wayne and Cho Lam were on a roll !!! They played 3 different games with the audience. First was a game related to horrorscope (the show hosted by Halina and Margie Tsang talks about horrorscope). Next is a short skit where, Ah Mo and Wayne impersonated females. Wacky Wayne stuffed an Astro cloth bag into his shirt to make his boobs more prominent ! Woo hoo ! The last one really takes the cake ! It was knee-slapping funny ! I managed to record it but the clip turned out to be shaky. I had a hard time keeping my hands steady coz I was bursting out in laughter while recording it. Again, Cho Lam read out a paragraph in Canto and Malay but tables were turned this time coz the celebrities have to read it out loud, while the fans helped write it down. "Susu (milk)" became "shue shue (pee pee)" when Halina read her version. LOL ! Watch the clips of Wayne and Cho Lam !

Bio Essence Event at 1 Utama - Raymond and Linda (June 7, 2009)

10 days away from his debut concert in HK, Raymond still made time to attend Bio Essence's publicity blitz in Malaysia. Accompanying him is none other than his rumoured main squeeze, Linda Chung. Linda is also here to lauch Bio Essence's new whitening facial product known as "Tanaka White", while Raymond promotes "Nugeno Cool." Those who had catched Michelle Reis' Loreal commercial would definitely noticed that their whitening products (right down to the pink and white cream in a single bottle packaging) is almost identical (except for the ingredients, I supposed). Everything was pretty calm and in orderly manner prior to the event but all hell broke loose when the two TVB darlings appeared !!! There was a mad scramble by everyone to rush to the stage....from fan club members to the media, as well as invited guests and the lucky ones who managed to slip passed the security and into the cordoned area.

For the record, one of the emcees, Mona, was actually pretty considerate. She appealed to those hogging the front stage to sit down or stoop a little so that everyone at the back could get a view of Ray and Linda (who were seated on the sofa) but as expected, everyone suddenly became "hearing impaired" upon seeing these two. I could hardly get a good look at them. After the MD of Bio Essence assaulted the audiences'ears with his boring and broken english speech, Bio Essence's ambassadors -Ray, Linda and a Malay actress were invited up the stage. Seriously, if I were the MD, I think I would come better prepared ! All three shared beauty tips and sang praises about the goodness of Bio Essence (yeah, what's new !). Raymond revealed that his stuble grows easily (ragging hormones ?!!!!). Hence, needs to shave a few times a day. Linda said that lazy beautiful woman doesn't exist. Every woman has to religiously stick to their beauty regime if they want to maintain a good complexion. I couldn't recall much of their speech coz everything was so chaotic and I was too pre-occupied with trying to get a few decent shots of them, which was darn challenging. Before they made their exit, both of them presented the winners of the Bio Essence Tanaka White contests with prizes.

张敬轩 轩.动.魔法演唱会 -Hins Cheung - Hins. Moving. Magical. Live in Malaysia 2009 (18 April 09)

Cold ! Cold ! Cold ! And I wasn't describing the weather at Genting ! To his legions of supporters, Hins can do no wrong but to me and my friends, it was a flop ! I have to admit, if it weren't for the complimentary tickets, I doubt I would be there. I was under the impression that this would be similar to his HK concert (eventhough the name may not be the same) but to my surpise, it wasn't ! The arena was packed but I suspect the majority were actually complimentary ticket holders. I realized something was amiss when after an hour into the show, "Mr. Soprano" is still donning the same white outfit ! He even drank from a wine glass instead of the usual bottle/flask which other singers would normally do. My hunch hits bull-eye when finally, it came out from Hins' mouth..."musical". He referred to the concert as musical! No wonder ! In total, he only changed costumes twice and not a single dancer in sight ! A good portion of the concert (if you may called it that ! ) were spent covering other singers' chartbusters, ranging from Nicholas Teoh, Fish Leong, Michael Wong, Valen Hsu and finally, to Sandy Lam. And purlease ! Don't get me started about Sandy. If I hadn't known better, I thought Hins was doing a "Sandy Lam Tribute". He not only covered a medley of her dance tracks (which I have no complaints) but after that, he went overboard by performing tons of Sandy's evergreen sentimental songs ( full track, mind you !). I was really getting very restless by then. I couldn't believe that he actually left out his own hits like "Blessings" ,"Lonely Garden (Gu Tan Kung Yuin)" and "Wu Nen Wei Lik", in favour of singing others' songs ! He only broke into a short verse of "Blessings" (unplugged) during an impromptu encore (some super diehard fans refused to budge) when he was about to leave the arena for the celebration party. The co-organiser of this concert is Jazzy Group(which is new in Malaysia but quite established in HK, I heard) and they really need to buck-up ! I know Hins' ticket sales were not up to expectations but watching this show, it's so obvious that they are cutting cost to the minimum. No dancers, no fancy costumes, unknown band members (not the usual gang of Joey Tang,Pal Sin, Dannie Wong, Ted Lo)...and no fireworks ! What a letdown ! It's truly a "blessing" (pun intended) I didn't burn a big hole in my pocket getting the tixs.
