Throng of lovebirds may have scrambled to exchange wedding wows on 11.11.11. I can't think of a more memorable way to celebrate this once-in-100-years occasion than to watch TVB 視帝 and 視后 perform in-the-flesh. I was kinda caught off-guard as I had expected this to be "stage show" like but it turned into a full blown concert instead!! The sensational trio gave their all, alternating between dance gig, songs (a wide repertoire, mind you) and skit. Teresa Mo was the opening act and she was especially hype, this being her first major "concert"(in her words) and all. A bunch of her buddies (including former Ms HK 1985 Shallin Tse Ning) were on-hand to extend moral support. Teresa even performed a sexy dance number, strutting to Tom Jones/Prince's Kiss! She really "wow"ed the crowd. Hard to believe that Mo Mo is already in her 50s. Mo Jeh provided the comic relief. I lurv her brazen and wicked sense of humour! On the same night, I regained my "long-lost" autograph from Mo Mo. I used to have one many moons ago but due to my carelessness, her signature was smeared all over my palm. I've to add, Mo Jeh is very sweet and approachable. IMO, second to Sheren, she has the best chemistry with Wayne. Both ladies were moved to tears, especially Sheren. Teresa headed to KL for a two-day vacation after the concert. It was such a deja-vu moment when I heard the intro to Leslie/Eliza's "只怕不再遇上". Having Gor Gor's ex-gf, Mo Mo, singing this song with Wayne...basking in the ambiance and listening to this beautiful ballad, I was overcome by a wave of emotion.

Reigning and undisputed TV King, Wayne Lai is clearly a hot favourite with the crowd. Not sure if this is his first attempt in singing Hokkien song but LOL ! his "爱拼才会赢 " is goooood (almost like a native speaker) ! Hee Hee...perhaps Raymond Lam has been secretly giving him Hokkien dialect lessons. Wayne may not be the best amateur singer in town (in fact, all three artistes went off-key numerous times) but the audience does not seem to mind one bit. Wayne is very charismatic, cajoling the crowd into clapping and singing along. It was pretty obvious that both Teresa and Wayne have impeccable communication skills during live shows, something which Sheren lacks.

郑九妹 made her grand entrance by singing the classic love song "只有情永在" with Wayne. This song is the theme for TVB drama "The Ordeal Before the Revolution"....not many would recalled but I still do, Wayne actually played a cameo role as Kitty Lai's love interest. I thought Wayne was gonna sing "红蝴蝶" but Sheren took over the mike this time. Without a doubt, the best effort from Sheren has got to be Karen Mok's "阴天". Sheren revealed to me after the show that she was undecided whether to pick Shery Chang's "听海" or the less popular "阴天" but she was confident that Malaysians would be familiar with this song and true enough, she made the right decision. This happens to be my first up-close encounter with Sheren. I was probably influenced by her tough and cool on-screen persona, evidently seen in "Rosy Business" and "No Regrets", so I was sort of apprehensive when approaching her to sign my stuff. Gosh ! I couldn't be more wrong! I have the utmost respect for Sheren after the brief moment I spent with her. Despite her top celebrity status, she has no airs whatsoever and has not let fame get to her head. Truly a gifted, passionate, amazing, accomodating, grounded, humble and down-to-earth HK artiste that I have ever come across. Thanks for making my day, Sheren ! A true superstar in every sense of the word. See ? I can't stop myself from showering praises on her !

Oh..one of the best segments of the concert is the skit which had the audience laughing out loud. The "Rosy Business" drama enactment portion with 3 lucky audience was hillarious. If I'm not mistaken, the lady that Wayne had selected is a fan who had flown all the way from Canada. Just click on the video clips and laugh your heart out !

A point to note is the length of the concert. It's definitly longer than the usual concerts held at Genting. What a treat for fans! This concert is worth spending every cent. Never mind the mediocre singing, their charisma and sincerity have connected with the audience. The concert ended with a rousing performance of Sammi's 一步一步爱 and 信者得爱. Is it just me or has "信者得爱" turned into unofficial encore medley for every concerts ?!!! Hope to see them again soon - perhaps 12.12.2012 ??????

Twins 3650 Malaysia Promo Tour (MY FM TWINS 3650独家粉丝聚会与签唱会》- 8/9 Oct 2011

By the time I got wind of this event, I was already in Genting to catch "Be Charmed" concert. The best I could do is try to get a glimpse of this dynamic duo before they catch the first flight to HK. Looking back, it has been years since I last saw them in action. Ah Q did grace our shores occasionally, as spokesperson for Jazz beer but I had to give it a miss due to schedule conflict. Here to promote their 10th anniversary Mando album - "3650", Twins had an autograph session at Berjaya Times Square on Saturday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a concert date with Twins. Any organizers ? Coincidently, Ah Sa's "THE SORCERER AND THE WHITE SNAKE " (白蛇傳說) is also making its rounds in the local cinema circuit.

Be Charmed Live In Genting 绽放•魅力大马演唱会 - 8 October 2011

I concur with Candy Ma whole heartedly when she tweeted in weibo - "So little time to prepare, yet they gave such a solid performance." With the exception of Fala, the rest of the gang need little effort to charm the audience. A definite highlight was the terrifically choreographed dance moves between bootylicious Kate and Laughing that were impressive from start to finish! Kate trounced Fala as far as live shows go, from costumes, stage presence, choreography to vocal ability. Out of the five, Kate shows good emcee potential, with her natural ability to command attention and engaging the crowd with witty banters. All would have been perfect if Kate hadn't made the grave mistake of inviting a lecherous "uncle" up the stage to perform "little dimples" (小酒窝). I already felt uneasy and smelt something fishy when Paul(yup, that's the horny dude's name)-the-octopus stepped on the stage. True enough, before even the music played, he deliberately felt Kate's back..all the way down! Kate was obviously taken aback and quickly jumped aside. As expected, he didnt' know this song at all !! The whole auditorium was echoing with jeers !! I think half the crowd (including yours truly) had the urge of landing a flying kick in his groin. He is giving Malaysians a bad reputation. What an asshole ! See, even now, I get all worked up with the mention of this low-life scum. Luckily, a fan-club member from Guangzhou saved the day by performing the duet with Kate again.

When I heard the first few bars of "I will always love you", I thought Myolie must be out of her freaking mind to attempt the Whitney Houston classic. I was so dead wrong !!! Myolie intrigued the audience with her AWESOME rendition of "The Bodyguard" theme song. The whole arena of star erupted with thunderous applause ! I salute Myolie for her hard work. This lady must have put-in a whole lot of effort to improve her vocal skills. And yeah, "obligatory" shouts of "Bosco !" was heard throughout the nite, too.

Not trying to sound harsh here but having a boyfriend (or perhaps hubby) who owns Neway (including the recording outfit) ain't gonna do her much good unless she shows the same level or even more dedication and hard work than label mate, Myolie. Fala sang out of tune a couple of times, especially during the duet with Michael Tse. She sounded really awkward when addressing the crowd (need to work on the live interaction bit). It probably has to do with yacking in Canto than in her mother-tongue, Mandarin. Fala is definitely more at ease belting out Mandarin numbers.

With all the hype surrounding "Lives of Ommission" (潛行狙擊), naturally the spotlights falls on Michael Tse-aka-Laughing Gor. His past experience in boy-band 風火海(Wind Fire Sea) and his stint in TVB's dance training class put him in good stead when it comes to live shows. As expected, the audience had major palpitations when Laughing gives us the smoldering and "chok" gaze before bringing the house down with his hot and cool dance routine. Michael was aptly supported by cream-of-the-crop dancers (from renowned Sunny Chan dance academy in HK). Not forgetting his "古惑仔" roots, Michael performed "友情岁月" with Ron. Michael is such a doll! He insisted that he wants to take a picture with me even when the security personnel tried to prevent me from doing so at the hotel lobby. Thanks, 大佬!

Ron is a veteran when it comes to performing at Arena of Stars, having been to Genting for various functions in the past. The problem with Ron is his voice is good but he lacks the techniques to bring his singing career to a higher level. Although he still gets to perform theme songs to his TVB series, there is no sign of new albums for years. I'm sure his contract with BMA must have wrapped-up ages ago. Ms. Lok ain't putting much resources to jump-start Ron's singing career either. Oddly, this time, Ron left out signature song,"別怪她" from his repertoire and of course, "红蝴蝶" is in ! I'm not in a position to comment in terms of personality but Kate and Ron are the perfect match, appearance wise. I'll certainly be rooting for this lethal couple team in "Forensic Hero 3". I hope Ron dumps the silicone mainland bimbo for real and hook-up with Kate. Ron, show us you can do better than this !

Low point : It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the answer. Yes, it's none other than the supporting act - Reno. I tolerated her during Ray Lam's "Desire Tour" early this year. Little did I expect co-organizer, Jazzy Group, to pull the same stunt again. Her voice is not too bad but purlease, if she wants to break into the music scene, seriously, she needs a complete make-over.

Aside from some slight hiccups in the set, most left having a very good feeling.
To summarize, the concert was unbelievably perfect!
