Raymond Lam - Desire Tour Live in Malaysia 2011 林峰“desire tour live in malaysia 2011" (19 Feb 2011) - Sunway Lagoon @ Surf Beach
My first concert encounter with Raymond and I give my two thumbs up ! Despite the brickbats/taunts he had to handle after grabbing Asia's Most Popular Singer at JSG award for 2 years in a row, my insticts tell me that this guy will certainly make waves in his singing career. Yes,he may have received more attention from TVB and EEG (incurring the wrath/jealousy of others, I'm sure) but favouritism aside, you can't deny that this dude has potential to be a mega entertainer in the long run.
He danced and sang his heart out throughout the concert and I must say, he did not let the audience down at all. From voice control to funky dance moves, it was flawless ! Considering the not-so-long period he turned pro (singer), I'd rate him an 8.5 on a scale of 10.
Ah Fung has such an irresistibly sculpted and toned body (compared to "Let's Get Wet" concert days), the temperature shot up a few degrees when he gyrated his hips and jiggled his legs to the fast tempo tracks. No kidding...when Ray said "Let's Get Wet", he's not kidding ! We were really wet ! LOL!
It's a norm that not all the costumes of HK singers will be the same as the HK concert but I couldn't help feeling disappointed that quite a number of his sexy outfits (seen in his "Desire" concert) were left out....probably afraid of getting into trouble with Malaysia's self-proclaimed "moral guardian" (the Govt), who always tend to go overboard when it comes to so-called provoking and revealing clothes. Haiz! What a shame.
When Raymond appeared in an all white suit, damn ! he is so "kingsley" ! Whenever he show-off his "chok" look, you can't help but wish you could bring him home after the concert. No wonder the super lucky Aussie fan that was selected to up the stage during "Morning Cute" couldn't think straight anymore when Raymond led her around the stage.
I was so worried there would be heavy rain (been like that in KL for the last few weeks) but I guess the Big Guy up there likes Fung too coz not only it didn't pour but it was a full moon night. Even Ah Fung couldn't help praising the bright beautiful moon, which shone on him like a natural spot light from heaven. Am I being over dramatic in my description here ? Hahah. Oh, the organizer should have skipped Reno's part (obviously I'm not talking about the one in Nevada). I do agree her voice ain't that bad but just because they couldn't get a guest performer from HK, it doesn't means that they could make do with any Tom, Dick or Harry. It would have been more interesting to show clips of backstage tidbits.
However, I wasn't too pleased with Jazzy Group's no photography policy, which isn't consistent at all. Some were given stern warning but others were left off the hook. Luckily, I managed to steal a few shots when the staff ain't looking. Hmmm....following Galaxy's footsteps ? What the hell is wrong with the local concert organizers ? I've been to Hung Hom (HK Coliseum) before and you can snap your heart all (only video recording is not allowed, which is understandable). My heart goes out to the short-changed audience who paid VIP tickets and ended-up looking at the screen instead of the stage. Come on...be logic ! The stage is so small, how can they arrange such a long stretch of VIP seats ?! What a major rip-off ! Buck-up, Jazzy Group ! Otherwise, just stick to co-organizing concerts (like what they usually do with Genting).
One thing that I certainly must not leave out from this post - Raymond has a heart of gold. I was at the airport prior to Fung's departure to Taiwan (I believe) and there was a bunch of wheelchair-bound people requesting for photo-time with Fung and he obliged immediately and even asked them to take their time (eventhough he was running late and there was such a huge que to get into immigration counter). Afterwards, I overheard a middle-aged lady from the group, gushing to her friends and that million dollar expression on her face was priceless ! Ah Fung certainly more than made her day !
