drink, NH Colla Plus, is back with a potent new formula (the third iteration)
and once again, reigning Cantopop diva, Joey Yung has been appointed as the
brand ambassador. The good news is NH Colla and Watsons have arranged for
Joey to attend a public meet & greet cum press conference at Pavilion mall,
KL. I recalled being utterly shattered a
few years back when NH Colla only held a closed door media session with
Joey. Joey glows in a peachy coloured get-up which blends well with the flowery CNY theme/deco at the venue.
After the mandatory brand
ambassador beauty sharing tips and why-I-like-the-product chit chat, it’s time
to sign the mock contract. Up next is a photo
shoot with NH Colla staff, VIPs, sponsors and winners. Sometimes I am doubtful whether the brand
ambassador really consumes/uses the product endorsed but I can’t deny that I’m a
sucker for this gimmick, too. I drank NH Colla for close to two years when Joey
first became the spokesperson. Stopped for a couple of years but can’t help
myself from carting away two boxes of NH
Colla Plus 3 from Watsons when I found out about Joey’s endorsement. Skeptic or not, a brand ambassador’s influence
does work to a certain extend.
For me, the most
exhilarating moment is having Joey confirmed her upcoming solo concert for next
year, which coincides with her 20th anniversary. Joey has
submitted her application to the venue management but yet to receive the go-ahead.
Hence, she is unable to reveal the actual date for now. Rumors have it that it
will be in Jan/Feb period. I have a feeling that it is likely to exceed 20 shows. Joey also told the emcee that
she was surprised and paused for a moment when fans posed the same question (HK
concert) when welcoming her at the airport the day before. She jokingly
commented that fans are really professional these days and asked questions like
paparazzi. Lol! Now that she has officially acknowledged this, she hopes the
fans concerned would attend her 2019 concert. I certainly will, Joey! Those who are unable to make it, fret not, as
Joey assures fans that her world tour includes Malaysia, too. Her new album is also in the works, albeit progressing
slowly.
Joey took part in numerous
reality shows of late, especially in Mainland China. When enquired if Joey
is keen to shoot in Malaysia, she expressed strong interest in filming travelogue
with buddy, Charlene Choi aka Ah Sa. Apparently, they had so much fun during
their Dubai vacation last year and believe their chemistry would bring new
sparks if they teamed up for reality show/travelogue.
This function also
has a media Q&A. It’s perplexing that the reporters shied away from asking
Joey questions. After much coaxing, one journalist finally raised her hand. The
no brainer question made my skin crawled. I could easily think of 10 better questions!
The standard of Malaysia e-news reporters leaves a lot to be desired. At least, do some research and don’t ask lame questions
! The journalist asked if Joey would recommend NH Colla Plus to her friends. She asked – “who in particular ?”. Reporter
said “Wilfred/C Hing”. Pffft ! Another crazy ass journalist asked for flying
kisses! WTF!
