T Music Festival (Bukit Jalil) - 12 Sept 2009

T Music Festival....now I know what "T" stands for. Obviously, it's either for "Trouble" or "Terrible" ! Technical glitches became a main feature of the concert. It's a major embarrassment to Galaxy (the sponsor)coz this was supposed to be a huge musical event featuring top singers from HK, Thailand, Sg, Taiwan and M'sia. How could they allow such boo boo ?!!

Technical hiccups ranged from soft mic, guitar not working, music stopping half-way and wait, that's not all ! What happened next ?!! While Chin from Thailand was working on his dance number, music suddenly came to a halt. Then, I saw fire coming out from the Tiger Beer's (the main sponsor)canopy (set-up near the VIP area)! For a full 45 minutes, there was total black-out !!! To pacify the angry and restless crowd, the 3 hosts - Nicholas Yung, Ngan Mei Yan and Amigo Chui (HK) had to invite a few artistes (Justin, David, Khalil Fong, Kay Tse) up the stage to sing short chorus of their songs, using loud hailers and torch lights!! Some people in the audience were shouting "wui sui" (return our money) and jeering at Galaxy. I was screaming for blood coz Joey has yet to perform !!! Ngan Mei Yan did the unthinkable and something real stupid - asking the audience to sing a birthday song for Galaxy (this is supposed to be Galaxy's 15th anniversary) !! Everyone around me (including yours truly) shouted "no way", "cannot" !! She must be out of her mind to suggest something so dumb !! Personally, I think this is retribution !! I have always hated Galaxy. If not for Joey and Kenny, I don't think I would attend. I have had bad experience watching Lee Hom, Eason, Miriam-Leo and Justin's concerts (organized by Galaxy). I wouldn't even use "rude" to describe the security personnels. "Savage" is more fitting. Man, I hope there is no 16th birthday for Galaxy and I'm tempted to start an Anti Galaxy group in facebook after this incident.

Everyone who is familiar with Galaxy knows that cameras are barred. They searched the bags as if the audience were terrorists carrying C4 explosives into the venue. I managed to sneak-in my smaller camera and took quite a number of clips during the concert. In the beginning, it was kinda tough coz the "hounds from hell" (Galaxy's security) were constantly barking at anyone caught taking pixs. After the power failure fiasco, I managed to evade them by shooting via viewfinder (instead of screen) so that it was less obvious from afar. One of the guys sitting at the back of me was caught clicking away and he got hell from them. Same goes to the lady sitting a few seats away from me. When the guy pointed out to the security that those in the VIP zone were free to take pixs, the no-brainer security challenged the guy and said those taking pixs are ALL media. Duh !! Yeah, right ! Media taking pixs using COMPACT cameras !

The concert commenced at 7 pm and ended at 1.40 am ! It lasted 6 hours 40 minutes. By the time Joey appeared, a lot of audience were seen heading for the exit coz it's already too late. Joey rendered only 4 songs !! Joey is the "ngak chuk" (grand finale) singer and she sang less songs than Power Station !! Absurd !!! Poor Joey looks visibly tired. She performed two new songs from her Canto and just released Mando albums - 搜神記 and 這就是愛嗎. Ended the show with "我的驕傲". I hope she comes back soon for another solo concert !

My heart goes out to Kenny Kwan. He didn't get much applause. The hottie has gone blonde, btw. He started off with 眼紅館"(the song from his Boyz days), followed by the first hit single for his debut solo album "分手不要太悲哀" and lastly, 預言書 (the song composed by good friend, Hins Cheung). Like I've mentioned before, EEG seriously has to help Kenny boost his career. He ain't making much headway in HK either. He should probably head for China to explore the market there. If not for fame, perhaps for money.

I just read the comment in China Press about Kay. I think the reporter is a bit harsh on her. Overall, she did okay although her vocal is not as powerful as Joey. I luv 年度之歌.

Justin was his usual bubbly self. He can do no wrong with all his K-songs, especially the popular catchy tracks - "Volar" and 決戰二世祖.

I was hoping that Khalil Fong would sing "Red Bean" or "Kwong Chiu" from his latest album but he opted for George Benson's classic, "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for You." I have limited memory card, so decided not to take any clips of Khalil.

David Tao was great as usual but he appeared too late. Audience were tired and not as enthusiastic anymore, although everyone sang to his famous love anthem 愛很簡單. He sang two new songs (from his new album) which I'm not familiar with (yet!). It has been ages since I last saw David ( I think it was during his protege, Tension's promo trip). I'm so happy he sang my fave song - 找自己 !

Ocean Hoi Ming Wai's song is being played to death in Malaysia - 我的回憶不是我的 (the duet with Vincy). Goodness ! He looks like Mainland Cheung Ka Fai !! Everyone was singing along when he perform that number.

Soler did a remake of Paula Tsui's 風的季節, the rock version and it came out pretty good (it's in their new album - CANTO). They brought along their own band mates. Dino and Julio are absolutely cute !

As for the local acts, except for Z-Chen, the rest of them are just so-so. Andrew Tan is improving. Eric Lim's new geeky look doesn't go down well with me. Kay Kuo Siao Wei reminds me of Karen Kong. Both are trying hard to act kawaii by singing brainless bubblegum pop songs that gives you goosebumps for all the wrong reasons ! If I hadn't known better, I thought Kay Kuo's songs were written by pupils from elementary school. Luv watching Thailand's eye-candy, Chin.

Latest update - Unbelievable ! Saw this piece of news on "The Star" -
"While some fans claimed that they saw a fire during the power failure, a spokesman of the organisers denied this and said the power failure was caused by a fuse problem."
LIAR ! LIAR ! PANTS ON FIRE ! Galaxy is a big fat liar and the audacity to spin this ! You think the fans are blind or what ? The clip is even on You Tube! Dumbass !! My FM 11th Birthday Bash (myfm 星光11齐天外传 ) at Arena of Stars - 15 July 2009

This is the first time I've attended My Fm's Anniversary bash. In the past, I've never been bothered to join in the mad rush for the tickets but I'm making an exception this year because of FAMA. I reached Genting around 9.30 am. There was already a very long queue. Tempers flared coz some wanted to jump queue and all. Redemption is supposed to start at 12 noon. Luckily, I still managed to get tickets with seats. Those not so lucky ones ended-up with free standing tickets. Contrary to news reports and calls from My FM audience praising the show, I beg to differ. Many actually left the show half-way thru'. Jack Lim (who was in-charged of producing the show) and his team tried too hard to impress the audience. They squeezed-in too many "wow" factors into the show. They have actions(kung fu), stunts (motorcycle zooming down from the staircase),3D sound effect, very hi-tech (I think it's LED) screens, magic tricks, awareness and raising fund for the handicapped and not forgetting,"Journey to the West" storyline but too much of a good thing only serves to spoil the show,if not carefully executed. It's so out of place and just doesn't go with the flow. First of all, the make-up and costumes were downright ugly (okay, I can still stomach that) and the plot of "Journey to the West" ? The jokes were lame and storyline was downright shallow. Conclusion- it's damn BORING and the dee jays made a fool of themselves with their very "lan" gag. The saving grace of the night were of course, the singers themselves. Fama (农夫), Chin from Thailand, Tank, Claire (郭静), Victor Wong (品冠), Nicholas Teo (张栋梁), Suki (刘俗仪), Karen (龚柯允), Andrew Tan (陈势安), Hins Cheung, and Min ( Astro Star Quest 2009 champion). Everyone of them put up a great show ! Claire's songs were really pleasing to the ears and she looks even more attractive and kawai now compared to before.

FAMA 農夫大馬宣传行程 -農夫《富甲天下》簽唱會 - July 2009

My first encounter with FAMA was during Miriam's concert in March 09. A lot of my friends were suprised that I went to Miriam's concert, just to watch FAMA (the guest singer)instead of the main act. I remembered asking FAMA then whether they'll be coming to Malaysia again for album promotion and they said that chances are not high. 5 months down the road and what do you know ?! FAMA is back in Malaysia again, this time to promote "富甲天下" (the local version includes some of their hit songs from their past albums). Needless to say, I was more than estactic to see my fave rappers, C Kwan and 6 Wing, in action. These two wacky guys are not only talented but are blessed with the gift of the gap, too ! In addition,I must add, C Kwan and 6 Wing are extremely nice and humble in person. When it was my turn to get their autograph, I was taken aback when 6 Wing pointed at me and said he still remembered who I am ! Later,I bumped into them again several times at the hotel lobby, they actually greeted me by my name ! Such good memories they have ! Hats off to the organizers of FAMA's promo trip. Everything was very well organized and most important of all, they didn't set lots of restrictions during the autograph session. Fans were free to chat and take pixs with FAMA. This really helped boost the exposure level and hopefully, helped them gained more supporters. From my observation, this trip is a huge success for FAMA....great comments from the media and during their live performances, the audience around me were giving out very positive comments. Moonlight Resonance Promotion (Moses Chan and Susanna Kwan) 家好月圆造势活动～槟城 - 陈豪、关菊英 - Farlim, Sunshine Square - 2 August,2009

The event started real early, at about 10.30 am. The turnout was stronger that the nite before but fans were less enthusiastic. Too early perhaps. Lucky thing, Astro decided to engage Jensen (emcee) for today's functions. As usual, Ah Mo and Kuk Cheh talked about their respective roles in "Moonlight Resonance", urging everyone to catch the series when Astro airs it over at Wah Lai Toi channel. They had 2 rounds of games with the fans - the first segment is charade, followed by bursting ballons which should be scrapped coz there wasn't much interaction with the artistes. I've decided to skip the last event. I'm too dead tired to continue my stalking mission.
