"Sammi Cheng - Love Mi More World Tour 2011" in Malaysia (Love MI More鄭秀文世界巡回演唱會大馬站) - Genting (19 March 2011)

I would have kicked myself silly if I had given this concert a miss. I was actually on the verge of doing so. On the very first day of the ticket launch, there weren't any good seats left. So, yours truly procrastinated (despite having book a room at Genting even before the ticket launch)...partially because "My FM Astro award festival" was originally supposed to be held on the same day but different venue and a couple of friends even tried to talk me out of splurging on Sammi. I'm so glad I stuck to my guns and despite the last minute ticket rush ( I was mentally prepared for the worst, infact)managed to secure the tickets, albeit lousy view.

This is my fourth (or was it the fifth..) Sammi concert and I must say, it is definitely the most smashing ! Honestly, her past two concert outings (Sammi vs Sammi and Show Mi Again)failed to impress me. This time around, Sammi has redeemed herself(of course, diehard fans of Sammi would beg to differ). The canto-pop diva is back with vengeance and this time around, she rocked "Arena Of Stars" with her earth-shattering performance! If the scarce and uncreative outfit changes in "Show Me Again" had me fuming, this time I was bowled over by the quick and many (8, to be exact)costumes changes. My only grouses are that the concert is too short for comfort (a mere 2 hours - including encore) and during her last mega dance tunes medley, the sound system (I believe it's the microphone - headset) acted-up.

This being Sammi's first public performance after her high profile reconciliation with Andy Hui, as expected, the crowd was hollering "On Chai" when Sammi sang "唯獨你是不可取替." At one point of the concert, she even mentioned in a half joking manner that she had finally found love ! Sammi was in such a good spirits - she's literally oozing and glowing from reignited love sparks. Lucky us (the audience) coz as a result,Sammi churned out 101% in the emotion, charm and stamina department that night.

Her guest performer was composer/singer/rapper - Hanjin Tan, the current movers and shakers in HK music industry (not the frontliners, of course). Don't this dude ever frown ? He seems to have the joker smile plastered on his face 24-7 ! Actually, I prefer seeing MC Jin or Mc Yan doing the rap portion but oh, well..no big deal. Hanjin lives up to his reputation. Sammi belted out both classic ballads and head banging dance tracks (even did a medley on English disco songs). The song on my "highly anticipated" list is none other than the pop inspired gospel song- "Faith - 信者得爱." I may not be a Christian but I'm hooked to the melody of this great composition! I had goosebumps while watching her performing this song live - it was way too awesome ! Another track that had me all pumped up is "Ding Ding Dong" (叮叮噹)...the way the dancers marched in sync with Sammi...gosh !made wanna be part of the dance troupe ! To borrow Sammi's song, it was certainly a case of "信者得米" for me, so to speak. I believed in Sammi and was rewarded with a kick-ass performance.

There was an unpleasant incident during last year's "Love Mi" concert (coincidently, same venue and same date even !) because encore was scrapped. Some hooligans even threw plastic bottles on the stage to vent their frustration. During the encore portion this round, Sammi made amends by singing the Mando version of "煞科" and bade the crowd farewell with "終身美麗". It's definitely a "美麗" audio and visual feast for me on the night of 19 March 2011.
Now, Genting, can we have Joey next ???
