圆游会Yuan Carnival 2014 Penang (香香公主”Eliza Sam岑丽香、Oscar Leung梁烈唯 & Elaine Yiu子) -Auto-City, Juru, Penang (21 December 2014)

Santa spreads early Christmas cheer to Malaysia by bringing three TVB stars (Eliza Sam岑丽香, Elaine Yiu  and Oscar Leung 梁烈唯)  to our shores for the final leg of  the Yuan Carnival.  I for one, did not anticipate to see Elaine Yiu again before 2014 comes to a close.  Not many stars look good in sunglasses but Elaine is an absolute stunner who is effortlessly cool in Hachill shades (a top HK designer eyewear brand).  Prior to the event, the TVB artistes headed to Dcova Café in Georgetown for a tv shoot. From the pictures posted in their social media, they were apparently playing the roles of aspiring baristas. I wouldn’t mind paying a bomb for a cuppa brewed personally by Elaine  (who is a major coffee lover, btw).

The TVB stars meet-the-fans was the grand finale of the two-day fiesta.  The perky and giggly Eliza (worth a mention - a genuine nice artiste, too) performed “Winter Wonderland”.  Oscar surprised the crowd with the TVB theme song of the year, 越難越愛”, followed by Elaine’s “差半步” (the sub-theme song of “Outbound Love”).  This is Eliza’s second appearance for the same carnival this year and the currently aired “Lady Sour醋娘子” is getting good word-of-mouth publicity.   Oscar seems to have a hectic schedule this year but drama wise, his characters are drearily predictable - always in the same brash and cocky upstart wannabe roles.  Elaine is indeed a regular visitor to Malaysia …she came four times last year and thrice in 2014 (uh huh…I am keeping tabs).  The good news is she will be back during the first quarter of 2015 for “Wellness On The Go – Season 3”. So hoping that this time around, Astro would have it as an open rather than a closed door event. Elaine gave a stirring rendition of Ruco’s 差半步” and she was a striking beauty in her elegant maroon attire.  Elaine is still tied-up with filming period drama -“Cheung Po Chai 張保仔”.  Her barrister drama (Quid Pro Quo-四個女仔三個) will be broadcasted sometime in late January 2015, taking over from Tavia-Kenneth’s “Noblesse Oblige 宦海奇官”.  The regular games segment with fans was thrown-in as well.  Elaine selected her “die-hard fan”, as she described her avid supporter from Penang.  Somehow I find the whole meet-and-greet to be shorter than usual or am I saying this coz I couldn’t get enough of Elaine's charm ?  It ended with an autograph session for selected lucky members of the audience.
Despite 2014 being a year of what-could-go-wrong-went terribly-wrong (as I penned this, my country is dealing with the third aviation mishap and battling serious flood crisis), TVB seems to have a fairly fruitful year with several sleeper hits and HKTV's competition proves to be just a drop in the ocean, with TVB continuing its dominance in the HK tv scene.  Happy New Year everyone and God bless !
