Jessica Jung and Kang Gary - meet and greet at Gurney Plaza Penang (16th September 2017)

Scream !!! Jessica Jung and Kang Gary are in Penang island for the “K-Pop Sensation 2017” concert!  It’s also the first full blown k-pop show in the island but definitely not the last, as we have “Kpop music wave 2017” to look forward to in November.  It is indeed a rare opportunity to catch the ice princess and former Girl Generation member in a free meet-and-greet session. This is Jessica’s third visit to Malaysia this year, after officiating the new Coach flagship store at Pavilion earlier this year, which was then followed by performing in the “Influence Asia” event.  2017 also marks Jessica’s 10th anniversary in the e-circle and her new  solo album, “My Decade”, had just hit the music stores last month.  The title track, “Summer Storm” is already topping the music chart. All in all, ideal timing for Malaysians as they will get to see Jessica performing songs from her new album at the concert.

I find the organizers to be pretty darn generous. First off, I don’t recall any organizer has ever arranged for k-pop singers to appear in public functions to promote their concerts.  The organizers flew-in Kang Gary barely three months ago and now, both Gary plus mega popular, Jessica, are meeting the fans again prior to the concert. To keep the good things rolling, plenty of tickets were distributed too and some even walked away with Gary and Jessica’s autographed giant posters. These lucky fans were not barred from taking wefie with the stars and had their personal belongings signed as well. Again, kudos to the main organizer, “Golden Warriors”, for such a flawless arrangement.

My ear drums almost ruptured from the piercing cries of excitement when the much awaited duo appeared on stage…fans were chanting “Jessica” and “Gary” non-stop.  Cendol loving, Gary, was his usual friendly and humble self.  Yes, he had cendol again (and rojak), too.  When Jessica took to the mike, the crowd went berserk seeing their idol in the flesh.  Jessica spoke in fluent English and mentioned that she has tried Char Koay Teow in Penang.  Also talked a little about her current activities, mentioning that she has been flying around the globe attending events and releasing her new album (pointing to a fan who is waving her album ). In person, Jessica has the epitome k-pop aura and look. Since leaving GG, I think Jessica has made tremendous  progress than before. The function lasted only 30 minutes or so but has left many “Golden Stars” (Sica’s fans) more than delighted as they did not have such up-close encounter during her past two visits (Coach and Influence Asia). Jessica blew flying kisses to the fans before walking off the stage. Oh..this is also a lucky week for fans of "Monday Couple", as the adorable Song Ji Hyo ,will be at Pavilion next Thursday for the launch of Samsung Note 8 cellphone.

Elaine Yiu 姚子羚 and Sharon Chan 陳敏之 meet and greet at Watsons One Utama/姚子羚 & 陈敏之 part 2@见面会 Watsons Road Show One Utama- (Sept 10, 2017)

Holy Moly ! September is one heck of a lucky month for fans of “The Unholy Alliance” 同盟 ! Just the week before, Nancy Wu came over to our shores for a succession of road shows and press con of a homegrown skincare product.  Now, “Kate” (minus Kent) Elaine Yiu, along with pretty mama, Sharon Chan are in KL,too ! It was really a letdown that there were zero TVB related functions organized by Astro after the lunar new year.  However, huge thanks to Watsons, Sharon and Elaine were invited as the special guests of Watsons Syok Sales Carnival at One Utama mall.  This also happens to be Sharon’s first overseas work trip after welcoming the arrival of her son last December.  I gotta say that the timing of Elaine’s visit is perfect ! With the Malaysia TVB Awards just around the corner (I predict voting should start in the middle of October), it’s definitely a great opportunity for Elaine to get up close and personal with her Malaysian audiences before the voting period.

I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed for Elaine to make a strong come back with the very well-received “Kate” character. My most fervent wish is for Elaine to bag the Fave Supporting Actress, Fave Couple (with Joel) and My Fave Character awards. Yeah, grab ‘em all, Elaine !  I’m all fired up to vote ! Elaine shared that it’s a massive challenge to play this role as she is required to execute a number of action scenes, which isn’t her forte. Elaine has been working-out quite a bit to prepare for this physically taxing part and the results has been astounding! Major rave reviews from almost all media and evidently, her popularity went up a few notches as well. Keep up the momentum, Elaine !

Elaine had just celebrated bff, Nancy Wu’s retro themed birthday party the nite before and participated in the press con for the 胡說八道會Australia travel show. Elaine is also in Malaysia to shoot the 3rd season of “All Things Girl” (Malaysia version).  The hype is really building up as “The Unholy Alliance” enters its final week of broadcast. The last episode will be aired on Wednesday, Sept 11th.  Elaine will still be in Malaysia when “The Unholy Alliance” airs the finale.  The nagging question on everyone’s mind is “who is big boss ?” (aside from Elena Kong) ? Elaine was not spared from this question but she claims that acclaimed producer, Jazz Boon, has barred the cast from divulging the identity of the mysterious mastermind.

Now, good looking is one thing.  Beautiful is another. Jaw-dropping gorgeous that takes your breath is how I would describe Elaine these days.  Recalling my first encounter with her many years back, Elaine is pretty…now, she is super captivating and oozing with charm.  Hopefully, the next time I blog about Elaine, it will be about the positive outcome of the awards ceremony.

Sharon replaces Elena Kong as one of the co-hosts of “All Things Girl” (with Katy Kung and Sarah Soong).  As Elaine puts it, Elena is too tied-up being the “big boss” (referring to Elena’s “The Unholy Alliance” character), so Sharon has to step-in to fill the void.  Sharon couldn’t contain her excitement when coming to Malaysia as the self-professed “BKT (Ba Kut The) queen” said she could eat Ba Kut Teh three times a day and still clamor for more.  Sharon’s new drama, “Heart of Greed 3” will be broadcasted soon, a series she worked on about two months after delivery.  Sharon revealed that she actually enjoys being a workaholic and does not mind being sleep deprived. Sharon hopes to equally divide her time in being a mother, actress and business woman. Her cookies venture, Blesscuit Bakery, keeps growing and is considering expanding it to Malaysia.
