Scream
!!! Jessica Jung and Kang Gary are in Penang island for the “K-Pop Sensation
2017” concert! It’s also the first full
blown k-pop show in the island but definitely not the last, as we have “Kpop
music wave 2017” to look forward to in November. It is indeed a rare opportunity to catch the
ice princess and former Girl Generation member in a free meet-and-greet
session. This is Jessica’s third visit to Malaysia this year, after officiating
the new Coach flagship store at Pavilion earlier this year, which was then followed
by performing in the “Influence Asia” event.
2017 also marks Jessica’s 10th anniversary in the e-circle
and her new solo album, “My Decade”, had
just hit the music stores last month.
The title track, “Summer Storm” is already topping the music chart. All
in all, ideal timing for Malaysians as they will get to see Jessica performing
songs from her new album at the concert.
I
find the organizers to be pretty darn generous. First off, I don’t recall any
organizer has ever arranged for k-pop singers to appear in public functions to
promote their concerts. The organizers
flew-in Kang Gary barely three months ago and now, both Gary plus mega popular,
Jessica, are meeting the fans again prior to the concert. To keep the good
things rolling, plenty of tickets were distributed too and some even walked
away with Gary and Jessica’s autographed giant posters. These lucky fans were
not barred from taking wefie with the stars and had their personal belongings
signed as well. Again, kudos to the main organizer, “Golden Warriors”, for such
a flawless arrangement.
My
ear drums almost ruptured from the piercing cries of excitement when the much
awaited duo appeared on stage…fans were chanting “Jessica” and “Gary”
non-stop. Cendol loving, Gary, was his
usual friendly and humble self. Yes, he
had cendol again (and rojak), too. When
Jessica took to the mike, the crowd went berserk seeing their idol in the
flesh. Jessica spoke in fluent English
and mentioned that she has tried Char Koay Teow in Penang. Also talked a little about her current
activities, mentioning that she has been flying around the globe attending
events and releasing her new album (pointing to a fan who is waving her album
). In person, Jessica has the epitome k-pop aura and look. Since leaving GG, I
think Jessica has made tremendous progress than before. The function lasted only
30 minutes or so but has left many “Golden Stars” (Sica’s fans) more than
delighted as they did not have such up-close encounter during her past two
visits (Coach and Influence Asia). Jessica blew flying kisses to the fans before walking off the stage. Oh..this is also a lucky week for fans of "Monday Couple", as the adorable Song Ji Hyo ,will be at Pavilion next Thursday for the launch of Samsung Note 8 cellphone.
