Anyway, the plot revolves around Malaysia based HK private investigator (Koo), who suspects his Malaysian wife (Chrissie) of committing adultery during the course of investigating of his client’s case. This being his first time in Penang, Louis had to face the mandatory question from the emcee– “ what is your Penang local dishes ?”. Louis divulged he had tried prawn noodles and has taken a liking to it. Also mentioned that he hopes to be back in Penang soon and is pretty impressed with Penangites’ hospitality. Despite his cool demeanor and lack of verbal interactions, Louis is very immensely towards fans’ requests for autographs. Louis donned his shades throughout the trip, obviously to ease the eye floaters discomfort. Raymond Wong also flew to KL the next day, to participate in the movie launch and press junket in KL.

Behind The Shadow (私家偵探) movie premiere in Malaysia - Louise Koo 古天樂 and Chrissie Chau (7 June 2025)
Louis Koo’s latest thriller
shot in Malaysia, “Behind The Shadows” 私家侦探 (produced by
his company, “One Cool Film”), generated extreme excitement for Penangites when promotional trip was splashed
all over social media. While Louis is no
stranger to Malaysia, this is his maiden visit to Penang island. Trong of fans filled Gurney Plaza and Mega
Cineplex for hours, just to catch a glimpse of the much adored superstar. I was at Mega Cineplex for the meet and
greet/movie premiere. Compared to previous events, the crew and security were
clearly extra alert due to the appearance of this high profile special
guest. Joining Louis is female lead,
Chrissie Chau, along with the annoying overrated local influencer/YouTuber,
Phei Yong. As usual, he was boisterous
and tried to grab attention by conversing in silly broken Cantonese. He spoke
off-topic most of the time during the Q&A and “veered off course” by
indulging in silly crap talk with emcee/ex-colleague Yun. For instance, arguing over the colour of
Penang Hokkien noodle broth !! Like, seriously ??? Phei Yong even have the gall to consume
durian before the function and burping in front of Koo. Really lack
proper social grace and downright disgraceful ! Casting Phei Yong based
on his huge followers in social media and so-called fame is actually
undermining others with genuine acting talent.
Obviously, the name of the game now is who has more followers, not who
has the most skill/knowledge. Such a waste of time and opportunity….they could
have use the short time wisely by asking Louis more about the movie or Louis’
current work/well-being.
