Joey Yung 容祖兒 "Love In Genting" press conference and meet & greet - 21 Feb 2020 (Venue White ballroom PJ)
A month prior to the now rescheduled "Love In Genting" concert, Joey purposely flew to Malaysia for a press conference and assured fans that the show will definitely go on. Back in February, Covid19 outbreak has yet to peak globally although China was already in lock down mode. Nevertheless, those who attended the press con had to go through the mandatory temperature check and sanitised their hands. Not many were wearing masks though. Things took a drastic turn in Malaysia during early March and the organiser had to postpone the concert to the 24th of October. Malaysia was on MCO (Movement Control Order)/partial lock down since 18th of March and I believe it should be lifted in June (barring no drastic escalation in cases). However, as everyone is aware, we are not out of the woods until the corona virus vaccine is available. My personal take is most likely, her concert will be further pushed out from October to 2021. Well, let's see. To pacify her disappointed fans, Joey performed a virtual concert for more than an hour via instagram on 21st of March, which was supposed to be the day of her Genting gig.
Joey's world tour is named as "Love in....", depending on where she is performing. To date, she has performed in Europe, USA and Macau. "Love in Genting" is supposed to be an extension of her 20th anniversary, "Pretty Crazy" concert in HK last year. Malaysia is her only Asia stop over, for now. During the press conference, Joey revealed that "Love in Genting" will be her seventh show at the same venue since the launch of her career. Someone suggested to Joey to sing Sheila Majid's Malay classic, "Lagenda". Joey said she will think about it. Coincidentally, Twins and Kenny Kwan were shooting a web drama in Malaysia. Joey hinted she might invite her buddies as her special guests if their shooting schedule permits. Of course, this ain't possible anymore. Joey was spotted eating durian at SS2 with Charlene Choi the day before her press conference. Joey said she likes nasi lemak since she is into spicy food. Joey also mentioned that she is a huge fan of Burger and Lobster and hope to savour the lobster roll when she performs in Genting. Anyway, let's keep our fingers crossed and hope we could contain the pandemic in the next couple of months. Miffy, we really need your rabbit foot for good luck !!!
