Gintell’s ambassador for the past 9 years, Simon Yam, headed
to Penang for the launch of the limited edition “Gintell -Spiderman” massage
chair. In conjunction with Mother’s Day,
Gintell offered attractive rates for the first Marvell character massage chair. The Spider-man chair comes with A.I. technology,
that enables deeper penetration and covers more vital massage points to enhance
blood circulation. The towering actor made his grand entrance, accompanied by two
prancing red traditional lions, to the roaring sound of drums and clashing
cymbals. For a 69-year-old, Simon is super
slender, fit and extremely agile. Heck !
He can squat and stand up with ease. His secret for staying in-shape is to do
light exercise daily. It‘s probably more
than a decade or so since Simon’s last work related promotional activities in the
island. I still recalled his past events in Penang for “Maniac” sunglasses and not forgetting his other longtime stint as Canon’s camera
spokesperson. He shared that he flies to Penang every 2-3 years for personal excursion and simply loves the local
delicacies. Simon revealed that during the drive from KL to Penang, he stopped by
several R&R and managed to devour different lip-smacking local food, namely, fried koay teow, oh-chien (fried oyster omelette), laksa and chicken
rice. Simon kept repeating “sedap” when the
emcee taught him to say “Ho” (good) in Hokkien dialect. He was full of praises for Penang and also reminisces
about past photo shoots at Balik Pulau’s Butterfly farm, snake temple and Penang’s
colourful colonial heritage buildings. There’s a Q&A with members of the
press after the grand launching cum meet the fans event. During the function, Gintell generously
distributed tons of autographed Simon Yam red heart shaped pillows to those
waiting anxiously for a glimpse of evergreen superstar. Simon also demonstrated his down-to-earth
persona by taking photos with random fans and even with the event crew.
