It was indeed a long wait...the concert should probably be renamed as "1516" instead of "1314". Well, it's better late than never coz Joey Yung's concert is definitely not to be missed. This coming from yours truly, who is now attending my fifth Joey Yung Malaysia concert. I became an instant hardcore convert after watching her "Show Up" concert. She just gets more "powerful" with every tour. Yes, she is that phenomenal! Having just concluded the highly successful "Hacken & Joey" concert run in HK last week, Joey is back in Malaysia after a 3- year absence. Her last performance here was for "N6" tour. "1314" will officially wrap-up with a finale at Foshan, China at the end of Oct. I am praying hard that "Joey & Hacken" will be staged here next year and please, please, make it two shows ! I always suffer from Joey concert withdrawal syndromes. Thus, I require at least two gigs to sustain my thirst for this diva.
As expected, the concert at Genting is pretty bare when it comes to props. No plane, snow globe, moon, make shift house, sexy black dancers....nada. That's why if possible, always try to catch the concert in HK for the real deal. Fortunately, there were a few different costumes changes (comparing to HK's "1314") and visual special effects backdrop. New songs were added to the run down , namely, 這么近那么遠 & 女皇
Although I adore this lady, I have to admit I still prefer Jacky Cheung's original rendition. I luv the theme song of "The Empress of China" drama but can't stand the long-winded Mainland series. Joey seems to be in a very laid back mood throughout the show. For me, the highlight of her concert is always the dance medley portion. It is explosive and induces a mad adrenaline rush. The JY Malaysia fan club presented Joey with a lovely bouquet of tulips, her fave flowers. Joey also finds time to have a get-together with the local and Singapore fan club members. Of course, mama Yung is in attendance (glad that auntie is recovering well from the big C).
It's dejavu all over after Joey sang her final number. It occured during N6 concert at Genting and it was no exception this time. The die hard fans refused to budge even after band members have left with their instruments and lights were turned on. The chant for Joey grew louder and LOUDER. Our girl didn't let us down. She appeared 15 minutes later to appease/thank her supporters. Did an acapella of the fan club anthem, "Be True" and even took selfie with the audience.
