Raymond Lam - Light Up My Live HK concert "LIGHT UP MY LIVE 2011林峯演唱會"(30 and 31 July 2011)
Have to admit that the lure of making my annual "pilgrimage" to HK for shopping and dinning is far more greater than catching Raymond's concert. Two weeks before the concert, I kinda regretted my decision to accompany my friend (an avid supporter of Fung) for this trip as it clashes with Bosco's promotional events in Msia.
The moment reigning "Chok King" Fung burst out from the red "LF container" with a bunch of dancers, decked in glittering outfit and shades, I immediately turned from a passive to hyped-up audience...all within minutes. Deafening, high-pitched screams from passionate fans echoed throughout the show. It is clearly visible that Ray is having a blast up on the stage, obviously feeding off the energy from fans - and vice versa. Having famed choreographer,Sunny Chan (who suprisingly still looks extremely good for his age),helming the dance department, Ray displayed such cool moves - he popped, glide, gyrate, shake his hips....in short, he BANGS ! Having seen his past two concert efforts, I like this BEST coz the theme not only focuses on Fung's rocking/dance moves but also,cashing-in on the use of lighting effects...giving out a surreal experience, when you are surrounded by a sea of green flickering lights. I've always been a sucker for adrenalin pumping concerts and I'm completely sold on both nights.
The organizer has lined-up quite a number of guest singers - comprising Kam Kong, Laughing Gor (Michael Tse), Susanna Kwan, Mag Lam, Grasshoppers, Leo Ku and Andy Hui. I spotted celebrities like Kam Jeh (Lee Heung Kam), Kate Tsui, Kristal Tin, Wayne Lai, Hubert Wu (The Voice 2) and Jason Chan in the crowd, too. Kam Jeh must be awfully fond of "Goon Ga Jai" to make the effort to attend his concert. I expected to see Ron but no sign of him. And yes, 620 (Virginia Lok) and other EEGs big shots like Mani and Ng Yue were on-hand to support their blue-eyed boy. As expected, the trio from Grasshoppers never failed to work-up the crowd.Hmmm...where's my fave diva, Joey ?
Raymond was slightly injured when performing "Broken" during the last show.Apparently, he was hit by glass splinters (special effect from breaking glass). His hands were bleeding and he was actually asking fans for tissues to wipe off the blood. Glass may be broken but not his spirit. He soldiered on and shook hands with the audience as if nothing happened. When watching his new song "Chok" on Youtube, frankly, I thought it was pretty lame.Never did I expect to be totally hooked on that song after watching him performing it live. He even jammed with Sunny during the ending part.
Ray was all misty eyed when talking about his unhappy experience (Mavis Pan incident lah, what else ?!) after singing "我很痛", which reflected his inner thoughts. As he put it, he couldn't "chok" for the last couple of months. I must say, I was really taken aback by the number of mainland fans present during the night. Hell, I even overheard a few aunties yacking away in Hokkien dialect while was waiting for my turn to relieve myself. Could they be his relatives from Xiamen ? I managed to a glimpse of his younger brother during the praying ceremony, too. A fan even passed him a huge "pek pek" piglet soft toy and despite my non-stop criticism of this drama, I bought a small daddy "pek pek" toy, too. LOL ! During the final night, fans refused to budge after the encore ended and Ray, rewarded the fans with "愛不疚" again before bidding the audience farewell. I was totally electrified !!!
