The turnout was very encouraging that nite. King Kong and Vivien Yeoh kicked off the show with a duet. The 3 Astro Talent Quest champions took to the mike next, performing theme songs from TVB dramas. Lights were dimmed and before I knew it, Bosco shouted to the crowd “Are you ready ?!!!”. He hit the dance floor with the upbeat “Hey, Boy !” His every move was in sync with the dancers ! After the brickbats thrown his way for his performance at the Ms. Chinese International show, this is indeed a redemption for Bosco and a personal triumph for his fans. At least, that was how I felt after watching him dance. Maybe Bosco has less pressure performing in Malaysia, away from the ever critical eyes of the HK paparazzi. Ron performed a musical, playing his “Emergency Unit” undercover cop role. Several Ron’s songs are interwoven into the narrative. The theme song from “Rosy Business” (紅蝴蝶) was included in the repertoire as well. I became highly suspicious when a few security personnels started to stationed themselves along the staircase from the front door. My hunch hits bull’s eye when Myolie make a grand entrance from among the audience ! There was also a part where Myolie showed off her piano playing skills. After her solo performance, Bosco and Myolie brought the house down when they performed a love number and the applause cat calls shot up a few decibels when they hugged each other !! During the curtain call, all of them sang Emil Chau’s “朋友.” I have to admit that their voice may falter at times but it is pretty obvious the three of them have put in a lot of effort to make this show a success.
