Joey Yung - "Moment" album promotion in Taiwan (容祖兒Moment音樂會台灣) -August 24, 2012

Having launched her latest Mandarin album by holding a press conference in Taiwan last month (July), Joey is back again in Formosa for a series of marathon promotions. It's been six long years since the release of her Mandarin effort, needless to say Joey is super anxious about album sales and re-capturing the Taiwan/Mainland market via "Moment." Apart from participating in tv variety shows, press con, mv shoots and radio interview, EEG managed to slot-in a showcase-cum-autograph session for Taiwanese fans. Joey may be HK's reigning diva but her fan base in Taiwan and Mainland China still leave a lot to be desired. Naturally, both EEG and Joey hope to boost her popularity in the mandarin speaking market through the back-to-back release of her semi-autobiography movie, "Diva" and mandarin LP, "Moment." Sorry to say, although I'm a die-hard supporter of Joey and knows all her Canto songs by heart, I'm literally clueless when it comes to Joey's Mandarin tracks....the ones that I'm more familiar with are perhaps "小小" and "飆汗" (duet with Show Lo). Amidst treathening twin typhoon scare (Tembin and Bolaven), the showcase on Friday nite went smoothly. In fact, I was caught off-guard with the encouraging turn-out, especially after reading about Gigi Leung's new Mandarin album sales surpassing Joey's. Joey made it worth every moment for those who had braved the wrath of the typhoon winds and rains. Joey wooed the audience with her silky strong vocals and thrilling performance...covering not only all the tracks in "Moment" but her old Canto (16號愛人 + 心淡) plus Mando hits as well as songs from Khalil Fong and Xiao Ling. Someone in the crowd shouted "黃色大門" (the supposedly *祖詩戀* anthem) during the song request portion. Understandably, Joey pacified fans with other songs instead. Coincidentally, Heison (the mv director) was part of her group, too. In person, Heison bears a striking similarity to Sam Lee and he is pretty lanky, too. 正好 and 雾里看花 were clearly the killer songs from "Moment", judging from the crowd's enthusiasm. Audience at Riverside Live house kept clamoring for more with applause that soon morphed into a deafening shout for an encore. Joey was obviously in good spirits. The warm reception and full house attendance did wonders to increase her confidence ! Now that the promotional propaganda in Taiwan has ended on a high note, hopefully Joey would be making strong inroads in Taiwan. This album totally deserves your attention ! C U in Oct, Joey !
