Touted
as TVB’s 2013 blockbuster drama that spurs viewers’ interests in the aviation
industry, Captain Samuel Tong and his cabin crew are all set to bring
“Triumph In The Skies 2 ” to your household from July 15 onwards. TVB is
banking on this sequel to obtain high ratings and and the sky is the limit, in
this case ! My biggest regret is Flora Chan declining the opportunity to
appear in “Triumph in the Skies 2” and opted to film Eric Tsang’s “Aerobic
Girls” instead. Another let down that bothered me is the theme song. I’ve
great admiration for George Lam and his previous songs are nothing short of
excellent but this time, the melody doesn’t quite cut it ! It lacks the
punch and the tune sounds like it’s from the 80s. Hopefully, “Triumph 2” would
live up to its expectations and not falter like the much anticipated “Beauty At
War”, which failed to capture viewers' attention. TVB spared no expenses in
promoting this big -budget tv series (location shoot in various countries ,
such as France, England, China and Taiwan), bringing the star-studded
cast members to Malaysia for a series of marathon publicity blitz. The turn-out
for each event was full to the brim and larger than usual due to the heavy
weight super stars appearance – Chilam has scores of fans here. Same goes
for auntie killer (师奶杀手),
Francis Ng, who hasn't aged much. In fact, junior Ng (Ron) loses out to these
two gentlemen in terms of built and charisma. This time around, Astro
even prepared a very special momento for the lucky fans – to-die-for
autographed pilot hats !! I so wish I could be the proud owner of one !
An ardent supporter of Chilam from Thailand attended all 3 events (from KL, Ipoh to Penang). Aside from playing charade with the audience, the most exciting and hilarious segment has gotta be the gangnam dance (which the artistes so dreaded but the audience are so darn keen to watch). Nancy and Francis were the “lucky” ones, Ron did the hula hoop challenge and Indian dance. It's definitely a one in a million chance to catch Francis acting all silly (the rest of the TVB stars are no strangers to playing games) and sportingly having fun with the fans. Hats off to Francis for being such a professional and willing to endure all these activities for "Triumph in the skies 2". Ron entertained us with "紅蝴蝶" (yes, again !) but Nancy was the one who stole the limelight with her outstanding rendition of Rene Liu's mandarin number "Hou Lai", earning thunderous applause. Nancy divulged that she will be having romantic entanglement with Him Law and playing a surrogate mom in this series. In addition, Elena Kong revealed during her recent stage show in Genting that she will be engaged in a May-Dec love affair with Kenneth Ma. Ron mentioned that thanks to this drama, he managed to visit Gay Paree (Paris) and had a very costly meal (ordered too much red wine). I guess all eyes will also be on newcomer, Kelly Fu (Ron's rumoured new interest), too. Buckle-up, folks and get ready for take-off two weeks from now !
