The fourth quarter of the year is a much anticipated period for TVB fans due to the annual Yuan carnival (圆游会) and Malaysia TVB awards ceremony. Many turned up to spend a memorable mid-autumn date with TVB artistes, Elaine Yiu, Raymond Wong, Evergreen Mak and Selena Li (姚子羚 ,黄浩然 ,麥長青 & 李施嬅) at OneCity. Raymond is even fitter after recovering from Behcet's disease. He sure doesn't look like a 40-year-old dude to me. If anything, female fans were literally drooling at the sight of this lanky, boyish looking hottie. Standing besides his frequent collaborator, Elaine Yiu, they look so compatible together. It is ironic that Raymond came to our shores when "Captain of Destiny" is currently airing. Raymond could have stand a good chance at the upcoming TVB awards with this titular character, had his health condition not deteriorated. Raymond entertained the fans with "友情岁月". Elaine and Selena were swaying to the beat and even recorded Raymond's performance. The first fans session is guessing the name songs when a Malay guy sang live. Mak Bao (Evergreen Mak)'s team emerged as their champion as he keeps running down the stage to get tips from the audience. Next up is the moon cake eating competition. Raymond even fed a lucky fan with the jelly moon cake. The ladies are no match for the boys. I was hoping to see Selena and Elaine showing off their gorgeous alluring long hair but bummer ! they tied up their hair, making them look too mature for my liking. Selena belted Beyond/Gem's "喜欢你"...not bad singing live. Elaine, as usual, sang like a professional. She chose a very fitting song for the occasion, the Mandarin classic -"月亮代表我的心". She seems to be getting more skinny each time I see her...too much crazy running and frequent work out at the gym, I supposed. Mak Bao mesmerized the crowd with "上海滩" and revealed that he is in the midst of recording his children song album. Despite the worsening haze hazard, it was truly remarkable that the event is able to draw such a sizable crowd. The celebration came to an end with group photos with the fans and distributing autographed photos. With the recent exodus of a few prominent first line celebrities from TVB, I hope TVB treats this as a wake-up call. They need to bring-up their current pool of talented celebrities like Raymond and Elaine, who are have been churning out consistently impressive work. Give them more meaty and challenging roles.
