Weeks leading to LF’s Heart Attack concert, I find my
interest quickly diminishing. I attribute the waning enthusiasm to news report
about Raymond shedding 20 lbs and the very unflattering shots (haggard and so
much older than before) splashed across e-news. I was even
concerned whether the frail looking Raymond has the stamina to endure 2-3 hours
in a dance themed concert or God forbid, would he collapsed from exhaustion
? Lucky for me, Raymond has not lost his
charm in his fifth solo outing and boy, did he dance ! He was even more energetic now than
before. Raymond ascended to the stage in
a glass coffin, in a red overflowing trench coat and red contact lens in one
eye, resembling a vampire. As expected, he kicked off his concert at the 12,000
capacity crowd HK coliseum with his latest single, “Heart Attack”. Misfortune hits Raymond again when he
performed the “jinxed” song, “Broken.” It had happened before and now, history is
repeating itself. He had accidently cut his hand against some accessories on
his outfit during the opening number. His hand was bleeding profusely,
definitely not some minor gash as the floor had many spots of bloody red stains. Raymond’s pretty professional coz he
soldiered on, as if nothing had happened. Among the prop is a 360 degrees rapid
rotating stage. There is no special guest singer (I was praying hard that it
will be Joey). The only guest appearance
is rap duo, FAMA. Good enough coz they are my fave rappers, too!. Aside from entertaining the crowd with “ lan
gag”, FAMA’s prime objective is to pick a few lucky fans to go up the
stage. The lucky fan whom Raymond
eventually selected after the song segment goes home with a pair of Ernest
Borel watches. The whole process was pretty hilarious. 6-Wing and C-Kwan are ever
so witty….more so after partnering with Do Do Cheng in various variety
shows. The sentimental songs sessions
were limited, which suits me just fine coz I'm more into dance numbers anyway. The highlight has got to be the
one where Raymond ripped off his t-shirt to reveal his six packs (after a
hellish training with the same trainer responsible for Nick Cheung’s superb
physique in the “Unbeatable” movie).
With Korean hit drama, “Descendants of the Sun” being the talked of the
town, Raymond sang “Always” in
English. In this concert,
there were more hand shaking sessions than in the past. At one point of the concert, LF declared
that all his fans are VIPs and climbed up a revolving platform that brings Raymond merely a few feet away from the enthusiastic and screaming audience seated in the upper level. For
someone who has a strong phobia for height, I never thought that he would have the
guts to pull off this stunt ! He was swaying his body, encouraging fans to take
selfie. Those who attended his concerts
are mostly his EEG label mates, Joey Yung (very happy to have spotted her in
the VIP seats), Vincy Chan (Wing Yee), Ken Hung, Alex Hung Kit, Gillian (Ah
Sa), buddy, Ron Ng, cousin Rosina Lam, Oscar Leung, Bryant Mak, Louis Yeun, gal pal Karena Ng, Tianyo Ma, Raymond Wong, Tang Chi Wai, Benedict Chong, Mani Fok and Ng Yue. The musical director this time around was
Nancy Wu’s boy friend, Terry Chan…yup, no more Tang
Chi Wai. Raymond’s concert schedule
coincides with Leon Lai’s 4D concert. Many celebrities went to support Leon
instead of LF. Joey only stayed for a short while. I found out later that she
had dinner with Hacken and her scumbag other half. How do I rate LF’s concert ? Almost full
marks !
