NEW : AWARDS RESULTS OF NOVEMBER 26TH :-
TVB STAR AWARDS MALAYSIA 2016 RESULTS
October
is not only the time to celebrate Oktoberfest but it’s also the month to roll out the voting for the annual TVB Star Awards Malaysia. I actually have second thoughts about going to the promotional function. The artistes line-up is just too blah !! Astro/TVB kept mentioning that for the first
time, eight artistes will be here to promote the award ceremony, to be held on 26th
Nov at Arena of Stars, Genting. Well, quantity
does not equate quality ! Where are the first line artistes ??! Nevertheless, I
still head to Sunway Pyramid, just to see Joyce and Katy. As usual, Jarvis was yacking away non-stop. I
wish he would pause and talk slower. For crying out loud, this is not a horse racing
event ! Ali Lee looks way better in-person and very likeable, too.
There are two annoying ladies in the entourage (Sisley and Grace). In fact,
Sisley was at the same venue last month for the Jade Pack event !
Fortunately,
this year, TVB fixed the IOS voting blunder.
Last year, IOS users had to curse and wait for almost 3 freaking weeks
before they could vote ! Looking at the list of nominees, I foresee Nancy and
Ruco walking away with the TV Queen and King awards again this year. There is
basically no competition. With all the rumours swirling around earlier about Joyce being the next TV Queen, I was really suprised that Joyce was not nominated in the fave actress category. Instead, Joyce would have to slog it out with hot pick, Grace Wong, for the favourite supporting
actress title. Frankly, both performed remarkably but my vote still goes to Joyce. If not, then please please let Joyce win one of the Top
15 Favourite Drama character. A pleasant
surprise is seeing Elaine being nominated for “Angel-In-The-Making” (isn’t this
a 2015 production ?). Best Supporting
Actor – I predict Matt would bag the award although Raymond Cho is clearly the
better actor in “Short End of the Stick”. My personal preference for best drama is “House
of Spirits” but I think “A Fist Within Four Walls” has the upper hand. Ruco’s massive fan base would
definitely vote for the latter. One last comment, for most improved actress, I
hope it doesn’t go to Moon. To be fair, Moon’s acting
is not bad at all for a newbie (so much better than Sisley and Grace!) but there's still room for improvement. Katy is a more deserving candidate.
