Rising property developer - EcoWorld's promotional stunt certainly worked like a charm. Judging from the props and lighting (plus the number of songs performed by Lee Hom), EcoWorld must have spent a hefty sum on the 3 concert tours, covering Penang, Johor and KL. EcoWorld's management team is mostly from the SP Setia (who had always engaged celebrities in their publicity blitz). Hence, it came as no surprise to me that EcoWorld is now using the same tried and tested formula to market their company in a huge way to a wider audience, more so when they now have several new eco based projects coming up in various states. If you are familiar with the "story" behind SP Setia, my hunch is you would be rooting for this new company like I do.
The concert was perfectly executed from every angle and I am mighty impressed, especially this being a free event. I admit that from the celebrity line-up, I am only interested in Lee Hom (same goes for 99% of the crowd, I bet). However, the rest of the artistes (Melody Tan and Najwa Latif) as well as illusionist (Daniel Craven), did not let us down. Overall, it was entertaining right from the word go. Aside from R&B crooner David Tao, Lee Hom is the other mando-pop singer that I listen to and have been a supporter for more than a decade. My last encounter with Lee Hom was probably in 2007 during "Heroes of Earth" concert in KL. From music man, Lee Hom is now officially a "family man" but this dude has not lost his touch. He is still better than ever ! When Lee Hom does his thang, you can expect nothing less than electrifying performance and solid good music. I was expecting him to sing only 3 to 4 songs but whoa ! he turned it into a mini Lee Hom concert. Again, thumbs up to EcoWorld for being so generous to the fans.
Lee Hom took the chance to showcase songs from his new album (his 15th after a four year hiatus), slated for release on January 23. This month marks the worldwide release of Michael Mann directed cyber thriller, "Blackhat" (which was also shot in Kuala Lumpur). He even asked whether the crowd had watched the movie. The best part of the show is watching Lee Hom plays the piano....he exudes such charm when he hits the keys. Lee Hom also gave an inspiring rendition of a Malay classic song "Getaran Jiwa" (which he had performed a few times in Malaysia before). "Hebat betul lah, si abang Lee Hom ni. Respect habis !" Leaving the hall after the show, all I kept hearing are audience gushing on and on about Lee Hom's spectacular performance. Lee Hom, you will always be Malaysians' "forever love."
