Film director/scriptwriter, Patrick Kong, is back with his latest offering - “S for Sex, S for Secret”. Most of his movies revolved around the HK dating culture (with the exception of “Hong Kong Ghost Stories”, which is probably his only production that I like). The theme for the rest of his movies is not my cup of tea. FYI - this time around, he scripted and co-produced "S for Sex, S for Secret" but left the director chair to Jill Wong. At times, he reminded me of a young Wong Ching. Patrick does have a good eye in casting though…he had consistently enlisted the services of A-List red hot artistes such as Julian Cheung & Charmaine Sheh or rising stars, Him Law and Sammy Sum. He seemed to have cut-down on using his faves, Alex Fong and Stephy, in recent years. Hopefully, Patrick will try to explore other genres in the future coz frankly, I do find him talented. Surprise me like Juno Mak did in his directorial debut- "Rigor Mortis". Until now, I am still confused about Patrick's surname. Should it be Kong or Yip ?
Cutie Taiwanese-Canadian goddess Annie Liu and Malaysian Jacqueline Chong tagged along for the promotional tour in Malaysia. I’ve just found out recently that Annie and Him share the same management company, Filmko. After carving a name for herself in Mainland drama “Scarlet Heart”, Annie is fast becoming the new darling of the HK movie scene. Her spoken Cantonese ain’t too bad either. In fact, she was so much better than the emcee with the atrocious Cantonese. How I wished the emcee would shut his trap and stop torturing my ears with his dreadful Canto. Seeing her in person, Annie definitely has the traits (hint* killer dimples) that would make guys go weak at the knees. Annie did a good job in the horror flick with Nick Cheung and Carrie Ng ( shot in Malaysia). My first impression of Jacqueline is “oh my-so-tall” ! Jacqueline revealed that she left Malaysia at a young age, therefore her command of the Malay language is just at elementary level. I only noticed Jacqueline when she hooked-up with Deep Ng (and the alleged spat with Nancy Wu) years ago. It’s a pity that the person I am most eager to see, lead actor – Pakho Chau did not make it for the event. Pakho achieved stellar results (notably in the singing arena) last year. After a short game session at the mall concourse , the stars headed to the cinema hall for the premiere screening.
