The wait is over for my fifth Sammi Cheng concert! One thing’s for sure, Sammi only gets better over the years but that comes with a price.  It becomes tougher each year to get hold of her much sought-after tickets! Luckily, Genting’s ticketing site came to the rescue after failing to access the organizer’s on-line ticketing page for days. Malaysian fans surely have a special spot in Sammi's heart as time and again, Malaysia is always the first stop of her past concert series.  No exception with Sammi Cheng’s Touch Mi World Tour -鄭秀文 Touch Mi 演唱會. It is definitely worth the time and effort as her concert is always highly anticipated since no sane Canto pop fans would ever want to pass up an opportunity to be dazzled by Sammi. A Mi diehard supporter reportedly forked out HK$15,000 to get ticket from scalpers after all were snapped up in HK.

After a hiatus of 4 years, Mi fans in Genting were all geared up to party with Sammi.  Deafening applause greets Sammi after each song and whenever Sammi breaks into one of her trademark witty “lan” gag.  Sammi opens her concert with a string of uptempo songs, starting with “Bang Bang Bang”. Sammi had a few new costumes, not featured in her HK concert. The concert hits climax when Mi got our feet stomping with 信者得愛. For a long time, I have not seen such a highly strung crowd. Almost all were standing and imitating Sammi’s hands gestures, chanting “it’s so HIGH, HIGH, HIGH“.  What a sight ! MC Yan (from LMF)’s awesome rapping helped pushed the atmosphere to the pinnacle. During the hand shaking session, Sammi was mobbed silly by the audience who would kill to have a piece of their diva Sammi.  Another highlight of the show is having Chan Kin On from “C AllStar” joining Sammi on stage, performing “時間之光”. I give it a thousand “like”. The duet is simply magical…the vocal blends beautifully, with meaningful lyrics. I was humming this song for days after the show. We also got the chance to listen to the live version of the band’s hit song - 天梯
As a staunch Christian, Sammi dedicated a segment of the concert to perform her pop-flavored gospel musical. The lightings throughout the concert were pretty impressive.  Sammi asked whether she still looks good for her age despite not succumbing to the lure of botox. She certainly does ! If anything, a few wrinkles here and there only add to her already spellbinding charisma.  Love or hate her fashion sense, Sammi is still the reigning iconic trendsetter in the HK music scene. Nike eyebrow is epic ! In Genting, there is no rainbow eye shadow and fiery orange hair as seen in her HK concert. Sammi bade us farewell with her encore final song  捨不得你I was disappointed that she did not sing my fave song,Phil Lam's  高山低谷, after doing so on the first show. During the show, wacky Sammi heard a loud cat whistle from a fan and she spontaneously mimic it. So funny !
